Brief English version
Dear sirs!
I've noticed that a lot of my visitors are from English-speaking countries. Unfortunately I have no time and possibilities to provide complete english version of my homepage. That's why on this page you can find brief overview of all other pages.
If you need more detailed information then either use Online Translation Service or e-mail me and I'll try to solve your problem.
Opera tune
The motto of this page is tweaking Opera for maximum speed and usability.
Speed
In File/Preferences/Network-Perfomance:
- Uncheck 'Synhronous DNS'.
- Set 'Network Buffer' to 40-50 kb.
Next settings are given for Slow dialup, Fast Dialup and Network connection respectively.
- 'Max connections to server' – 4, 6, 8;
- 'Maximum total connections' – 6, 15, 30.
In File/Preferences/History & Cache :
- Set 'Disk Cashe' value to at least 10000 kb.
Usability
In File/Preferences/Browser Layot:
- Change everything to 'Images Only'. That will free viewable area.
- Check: 'Show Page Button', 'Show progress inside address Bar', 'Wrap toolBar into rows'. I don't recommend to check 'Show Zoom Field' it's much easier to use Gray+ or Gray-.
In File/Preferences/Windows:
- Select 'Refuse Pop-up windows' from dropdown list.
- View/Main Bar - 'Simple';
- View/Personal Bar - 'Top', 'Show Bookmarks', Check your favourite search engine in 'Show Searches';
- View/Status Bar - 'Top', 'Show Time';
- View/WindowBar - 'Top';
- View/Adress Bar - 'Top';
- View/Encoding - 'Automatic detection'.
Opera search engines enchance
You can edit your Opera 'search.ini' file to add your favourite search engine if it doesn't exist in Opera. Here you can download my sample 'search.ini' with some Russian search engines added.
